I wonder if anyone can shed some light on what causes mower motors to trip thermal switches. On both my mower decks I have certain motors that function for a period of time before cutting out, during a long mowing session. These same decks seem to have other motors that never cut out? What causes the motor to react differently in the same mowing sessions?

Thanks,

Bob K.

Could be the breakers themselves, or something internal to the motor. Have you put an ammeter on the "good" motors and on the troublesome ones? I would compare the two readings. If they are very similar, I would suspect the circuit breakers. If they are different, I would suspect the motor itself (bearings, brushes, maybe armature). Of course, all this would be after making sure your blades are sharp and balanced.
