Wheelhorse A60 battery size

Someone posted they are group 27, but those are over 12" long and the A60 looks like it is set up for a maximum of 11 3/4" length-- which a group 27H is, but those batteries are not common.

What batteries have you put in your A60? I'd like to fit 3 group 27, instead of group 24.

I had the same problem with length of batteries in a New Idea ER-36 and an Elec-Trac ER8-36. I fitted an appropriate size wooden board under them to raise the bottom of the battery above the angle iron brackets. Then, secured them in place by other means.

Hey, how did that work out? My problem is not brackets on the bottom, but the transmission. From 2" to 5" up, it reduces the space available to exactly 12".

I'm wondering if the group 24 batteries are only 12 1/4" at the top, or the bottom... either way would work, if the case is 12" between 2 and 5" of height. Only way to check is to measure them-- and they are an hour away.

I didn't realize the A-60 was that much different than the New Idea and GE models. Just measured the available space on an ER8-36. It measures 14 1/2" in the area you described.

Group 27 batteries fit, no problem. They are long at the top, but the majority of the battery case is 12" or less.
